Yesterday was kind of a blah day. The weather was overcast and humid and yucky. We were all in kind of a blah mood, so we decided to get out of the house and do something. We jumped in the van and off we went to Twin. We ran a few errands, splurged and got takeout ;) and headed home. On our way home we decided to stop off in Jerome at Walmart for a few things we ran in, got what we needed and headed to the checkout line. The girls were behaving pretty well for a trip to Twin and then to Jerome. (For those of you who don't know, Twin Falls is about 20-30min away depending on where you're going, and Jerome is halfway between Twin and Wendell) I wasn't really paying much attention to anything besides getting through the checkout line and the bags into the cart. I was holding Brynlee and she had fallen asleep. Gabi and Madi were being super cute and helping put our items onto the belt. After Madi was done she threw her hands up in the air and said, "Mama, I did it!" So cute! Of course the girls wanted a high-five and fist-bump for a job well done. Just love our girls! When we got out to the van and were loading up, the older gentleman who had been behind us in line went up to Isaac and Gabi who were on the other side of the vehicle and was talking to him. All of a sudden Madi, who was already in her seat said, "Mama, I like grandpa!" It was then that I noticed that the man was handing Isaac candy that he had just purchased. Isaac later told me that the man had said that he had enjoyed watching the girls interaction. He was in town visiting his grandchildren, and proceeded to ask Isaac if it would be okay if he gave the girls some candy he had just purchase. Seriously, who does that? So incredibly nice. What a wonderful ending to a day that seemed so blah in the beginning! On our way home as the girls were relishing in their new treats, I thought about tender mercies and the kindness of others. That man certainly did not have to give us two big bags of candy, but he did. It truly is the simple things that make up the bigger things in life. I don't know that man, and we will probably never see him again, but I am so grateful for his act of service.
All I can think about is how I need to, pass it on...
